Merry Christmas and

A Happy New Year

Last April, we lost Yasuko, Sumiko’s mother, by pancreas cancer. Two years ago, she was declared her life expectancy would be only a few months, but she bravely enjoyed the life, for example traveling lots of places with her family, and could live almost two years. We are very much impressed by her positive attitude, and learned much.

Yoichi retired from the University of Tokyo at the age of 62 last March after 34 year service. He got a new job at the University of the Air (University of Open Education of Japan), where he is engaged as a professor of dept. of information technology and a leader of the internet group. Also was assigned to a part-time vice-president of another organization, NIME (National Institute of Multimedia Eduation).

We still hike and climb lots of Japanese mountains.

This year climbed more than 10 Mts, and Sumiko completed 66 among Japanese 100 Mts, among them, a course between Mt. Yari and Hotaka are one of the most difficult route in Japanese Alps.

We are still healthy and active for everything.  We also wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
